Star Swimmers Across The Country...

The first time I was introduced to the ISR program was through a friend whose son was enrolled. I watched a video of her son and was in awe and from that moment on I was determined to enroll my two year old son. It took me a little while to find an instructor who was willing to work with my later evening time slot, since I’m a full time working mom. I was fortunate to find Samantha just in time for summer! She replied to my email and hundreds of questions immediately and we worked out a perfect time at my community pool. I was so anxious to get Jace up and going by summertime!
I will admit the first couple of weeks were not easy. The first lesson I wanted to jump in and rescue my little guy, as tears welled up in my eyes…but I knew how beneficial ISR was for his future and also knew he was in amazing hands with Ms. Samantha. Everyday got a little easier, everyday Jace got more comfortable with Samantha and quickly it got to the point where I would pick up Jace after work and he couldn’t wait to jump into her arms and do his lesson.
At first it seemed like a lot, every day for six weeks straight, but the days flew by and the program went by so fast! The anticipation of seeing Jace’s progress was addicting. Samantha is so patient, so good with kids and so determined to get these little guys to swim. She taught a group of family and friends in my neighborhood and I got to watch lessons for 6 month olds all the way up to 5 years old. There was a point where Jace was retaliating and kicking but she wasn’t phased by this. She did everything to get him to listen, concentrate and perform ISR skills. It was amazing to see how far he came from day one to day five and beyond, almost unbelievable progress.
Summer arrived quickly and lessons came to an end. It was so hard to tell Jace he wouldn’t be seeing Ms. Samantha anymore, he didn’t quite understand. While at a pool on our summer vacation Daddy and I were both turned away from Jace for one second to take off our cover-ups and… splash – Jace fell in…I almost jumped in but I was patient, held my breath and there he came; he popped up, so proud with a huge smile on his face. Daddy and I looked at each other both with huge smiles and a sigh of relief. So proud, proud of our little fish and so grateful for Samantha’s hard work and determination to get our little guy performing life-saving, safety ISR techniques.
Now we frequent our community pool often and I must say every time I am at the pool I get, “How old is your son…he can swim so well.” My only answer, ISR – I am a firm believer; a priceless time and financial commitment. It’s an investment into your child’s lifetime.
Thank you Samantha, You are one of Jace's first teachers, friend and most importantly...lifesaver!
